Orla Garriques is a multi-faceted professional working at the intersection of film, television, digital media, arts and education.
She has delivered collaborative initiatives that promote content and talent at home and abroad for leading media institutions such as the National Film Board of Canada, Canadian Film Centre, Toronto International Film Festival, Hot Docs, and South African Documentary Association.
She works with award-winning production companies in development, business affairs, marketing, and audience engagement. Her Film and TV credits include LITTLE MOSQUE ON THE PRAIRIE, DESIGNER GUYS, STYLE DEPT., GOLDMIND, GUNS, SKIN DEEP, JOZI-H, and LOVE JACKED.
Garriques is currently the Marketing Director for Inner City Films, overseeing marketing, exhibition and sales/export strategies for film and tv properties.
Drawing from her 20 years in the industry, she also mentors within several organizations, including CFC Media Lab's Fifth Wave feminist business accelerator; Oya's Scale Up Immersive; OCADU's Digital Futures; Elizabeth Fry's "My Start-Up" and RISE for starting their own business; SuiteLife Art careers for Youth program; and Reelworld Screen Institute Market Ready initiative.
She enjoys supporting others in their creative expansion with a focus on business model design, and strategic marketing
Orla also serves on the board of The Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT); the Advisory Council for the Centre for the Study of Black Canadian Diaspora (OCADU); CFC Media Lab EDI committee; and the Black Screen Office (BSO) programming committee.
