The Atlantic Producers

Named one of Variety’s 10 Canadians to Watch in 2022, Britt Kerr (she/her) is an independent film producer and creative consultant based in Kjipuktuk/Halifax, NS. She earned her Master of Business Administration from Dalhousie University, building a foundation in accounting and commercial banking before joining the film industry in 2015. A lifelong lover of the arts, Britt felt a natural pull to the creativity and complexity of producing. She first transitioned into film as a production accountant, and soon after pursued the CMPA Production Mentorship Program. She worked for two years as the Director of Development of Holdfast Pictures (Weirdos, Blackbird) before incorporating her company, Brass Door Productions, in 2019. Her first produced film, Ashley McKenzie’s sophomore feature Queens of the Qing Dynasty, had its world premiere in the Encounters section at the 2022 Berlin International Film Festival. It went on to play such other prestigious film festivals as Toronto International Film Festival, New York Film Festival, and Sydney Film Festival. Britt is currently in pre-production on There, There, Heather Young’s follow-up to her acclaimed feature debut, Murmur (2019). With two features slated for release in 2023 and three features in development with collaborators across the country, she is also the grateful recipient of the 2022 TIFF Talent Accelerator Producer Fellowship. Britt served for two years as the Chair of WIFT-AT, and is a founding member of the WIFT Canada Coalition.
